Mandatory Reporter Training

The CAC provides free Mandatory Reporter Training to thousands of teachers and child service providers yearly.
According to Alabama law, any person who knows or has reasonable cause to believe or suspect that a child has been abused or neglected is a mandatory reporter. Additionally, anyone who observes a child being subjected to conditions or circumstances that would reasonably result in abuse is also required by law to report. The report should be made orally, either by phone or direct communication, immediately to DHR or law enforcement. A written report must always follow an oral report as soon as possible. Mandatory Reporters include the following:
-
All medical professionals and employees of medical facilities.
-
School teachers, officials and employees of all private, public K-12 schools, and higher education facilities.
-
Child care providers and employees
-
Law enforcement officials
